Our New 3Inch Configurable Resonated Midpipes are made in house here at Essex Rotary to our design.
Utilising a rear sound resonator that does not have any wadding or packing that can get burnt out over time due to the rotaties extreme exhaust temperatures. This cork screw style resonator has a straight through centre tube splitting the exhaust gasses as is passed through, This design offers great resonance and sound suppression while keeping any back pressure to a minimum.
Tig welded from 304 stainless steel, our 3inch midpipes have a true 3inch bore where it meets the manifold using an extra thick custom laser cut stainless flange to reduce warpage and minimise exhaust leaks up front. this is something that every other system has a reduction in size at.
The rear section is reduced like most midpipes down to the stock system diameter to make out system compatible with most OEM and aftermarket catback systems available on the market today.
Fitted with an O2 sensor bung for installation of the Rear Oxygen sensor or a wideband oxygen sensor.
In between the front and rear flanges we offer a selection of 5 different configurations to meet your requirements. Including resonators, sports cats and race mufflers depending on what you need, more information on these options can be found further down on the page.
Included with your order will be a full fitting kit including

- Midpipe to catback Springs
- Midpipe to catback bolt set

We can offer this unit in 5 configurations
- Resonated Midpipe – like the test pipe but we add the main Resonator as mentioned above.
- Test pipe – usually referred to a decat or race pipe – No Resonators no cat all noise.
- Resonated Sports Cat – We add a high quality 200Cel sports cat to the up front.
- Non-Resonated Sports Cat – 200Cel Sports Cat up front with no resonator at the rear.
- Dual Resonated “Noise Killer” – Low Profile Packed Ract Muffler up front and our usual cosk screw resonator at the back.

Resonated Midpipe
These are commonly known as decat pipes and contain no Catalytic converter meaning they are not fur use on the public highway and will not meet MOT emissions standards for UK roads.
These are usually used when testing an exhaust system for diagnosing an issue on your exhaust system like power loss from a blockage in the midpipe, be is a failing cat or collapsing silencer. As these have not Cat and a wadding/packing free read resonator there is nothing to cause a restriction.
Test Pipe
All the noise and no restrictions, ideal for testing and or diagnosing issues suspected to be on your midpipe/OEM catalytic converter such as blockages. If noise is not an issue then this may be the option for you. No resonator, no 200cel cat no restrictions and minimal cost. – This system will not meet MOT emissions Standards.
Resonated Sports Cat
This os this as our Resonated Midpipe option but we tig weld a high quality 200cel sports cat up front helping to reduce the nasty exhaust fumes and emissions, helping to keep you compliant with some of the racing regulations and requirements for the track.If you need a sytem that meets MOT Emissions Standard for your car then this is an excellent option.
Non-Resonated Sports Cat
Our 3″ Test pipe configuration, with our high quality 200Cel Sports Cat added at the front. No Resonator at the back. This sytem will be noisier than resonated sport cat, but will pass MOT Emissions testing.
Dual-Resonated “Noise Killer”
The ultimate choice if noise is an issue with your RX-8’s specific engine and catback configuration. Some catback systems can be seriously noisy. for this reason we are offering our “Noise Killer” configuration.
This configuration uses a low profile 304 stainless steel packed straight through race muffler at the front (where we would normally install a sports cat) and our classic cork screw non packed resonator at the rear.
This setup offers the maximum noise reduction and control while still keeping exhaust gas restrictions to minimum due to the straight through design of the race muffler.
There is unfortunately no room for a sports cat in this configuration so it will not pass MOT Emissions Standards.
MOT Emissions Standards Euro4 and our Sports Cats.
While our testing has found that these systems will pass MOT when fitted with a sports cat in your confuguration, please note that these are not intended for use on the UK public highway. While we have tested these sytems and they do meet euro 4 emissions standards please note that sport cats are not type approved for UK roads so they are therefore manufactured and sold for offroad, track and race use only.
