*Please note if you have not addressed the cause of your Cat failure before installing your new Cat, this will cause your new cat to fail prematurely, and in some cases the manufacturer may void the warranty as this is deemed to be consequential damage and not a manufacturing defect.
The primary causes of catalytic converter failure are failed ignition system components, this could be one or a combination of parts such as;
- Ignition Coils
- Spark Plugs
- HT Leads
These components may have failed and caused unburnt fuel to make it way in to your exhaust system in excessive amounts where it it ignited and burns causing excessive hear in the catalyst beyond temperatures that system is designed to deal with.
Please take a look at these Essex Rotary Video’s for further information on cheap catalysts vs OEM and one way to check if your current Cat has failed.
Cheap cats are cheap for a reason.
